Journalism, creative writing, corporate content, copy editing, translation – whenever I work with words, the job is done only when it communicates well. No matter how weighty the subject, I believe you can always keep it simple and concise. If a reader doesn't scroll down or turn the page, an opportunity has been lost.
I've written anything from scripts for corporate information videos to web posts on topics such as business, health, lifestyle, entertainment and sports. At Huisgenoot and YOU magazine I learnt how to tell a story and translating NG KiDS every month taught me how to write for children. My most recent publications are two books of original jokes for young kids.
In writing, translation and copy editing, in English or Afrikaans, my ultimate goal is to make content easy to understand and a pleasure to read.

“Pieter is a pleasure to work with. He gets the brief first time round, delivers on time and is ideal to work with where projects require a little more brain power than normal.” — Garth Jemmett, Director, Flick
“Pieter worked for me as a freelance translator during my editorship of Seventeen SA magazine and more recently Edgars Club magazine. He is a consummate professional: efficient, works to deadline and in the style and tone required. Highly recommended.” — Justine Stafford, Group Editor, Edgars Club magazine
